Field note
Stock lookup stalls and the silent drop in dispensing screens
Dispensing-adjacent screens in pharmacy apps often show healthy “view” counts and weak “confirm” counts. Product teams assume the confirm button is confusing. Pharmacists describe something else: the stock lookup spinner that hangs while the patient waits at the counter.
What reviews look for
We ask for timings between stock query start and result render, then compare those timings with session ends. When the spinner exceeds a familiar threshold for that outlet’s network, sessions die — and the next event never fires. The analytics story looks like button failure; the operational story is infrastructure.
A practical response
Instrument the spinner as a first-class wait state. Share the chart with both IT and pharmacy managers. Only then decide whether the confirm button needs rewriting.
